I leave mine in "on" as it is a vacumn controlled position, and if i left it in res and forgot ... i'd have a long walk ahead if i forgot to gas up, in prime, the vacumn doesnt shut off the fuel so if the carb needle is dirty, or sticking open, fuel could come out the bowl overflow tubes and mess up your driveway, or worse, come up through the emulsion tube and flood the piston and cranckcase...... well thats very rare.... and ive never seen it.... and ive been a mechanic for 8 years...... but it might happen...... so i leave mine in "on" :)
